From tune-ups and alternator replacement to brake repair, clutches and transmission replacement, Slicks Auto handles general automotive repairs for Belgrade, Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley. All work is by appointment at 158 Pheasant Ln in Belgrade.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE SHOP
Hi, I’m Randy, owner of Slicks Auto and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. I opened Slicks Auto in 2020 to bring my mechanical experience and passion for helping people to my own shop. I enjoy solving problems, working with my hands, and helping my neighbors keep their vehicles running safely and reliably.
I began my mechanical career in the Marine Corps in 2005, maintaining and repairing artillery systems. After my military service, I worked on the U.S. Army’s pre-positioned tracked vehicle fleet in Kuwait. Back in Montana, I gained more than a decade of automotive repair experience, including five years in a transmission repair shop. I later served as the sole mechanic responsible for maintaining the entire City of Bozeman Police Department’s fleet vehicles.
My experience includes brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions, and drivetrains, along with electrical diagnostics, hydraulic systems, welding, and fabrication. Working on such a wide range of equipment has taught me to troubleshoot carefully, understand why something failed, and pay attention to the details that make a repair last. I also install and troubleshoot Sound-off & Whelen emergency lighting and integrated computer systems in first responder vehicles.
At Slicks Auto, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions. I’ll take the time to listen to your concerns, explain what I find, and discuss your options in plain English so you can make an informed decision about your vehicle.

Vehicle configuration, condition and the scope of work affect a repair estimate. An hourly rate alone does not establish the labor hours for a specific job.

TRANSMISSION PRICE EXAMPLES
These rough examples include a remanufactured transmission with torque converter, estimated removal-and-replacement labor, one hour to flush the transmission cooler, and the listed fluid and shipping charges. Warranty labor reimbursement
Labor allowances will be limited to labor time as determined by the Mitchell On-Demand labor guide at a rate of $50 per hour and up to $100 per hour for premium labor, provided the original installation and warranty repair and/or replacement was performed by a licensed repair facility. Labor payments will only be made upon receipt of the defective unit. The purchaser agrees they are liable for the remaining balance of the repair.
Fuel surcharges or freight adjustments, additional fluid if needed, programming or relearn services unless explicitly included (the 10R140 example includes $150 programming), diagnostics, additional parts or repairs, applicable taxes and any core charges are not included in these estimates. A core charge may apply depending on the condition and return of the original transmission. Optional warranty upgrades are separate.
Estimated replacement labor includes 1.0 hour for flushing the transmission cooler, all at our $120/hour rate. Vehicle-specific procedures and condition may change the hours. Prices checked October 15, 2026 and subject to change. Examples do not establish compatibility for every vehicle in a listed year range.
